CSIRO excursion!

Hi 6A,

today you visited CSIRO. Please think about the following and record your thinking:
1. What did you enjoy the most about today’s learning?
2. What would you like to find out more about?
3. What new scientific learning came out of today’s excursion?
4. Was the excursion a worthwhile experience? Why or why not?

    1. I thought that making slime was the most fun because it was interesting how to make slime
    2. I would like to find out more about how the transparent substance changed colour and what it was.
    3. that some chemical changes can be reversible
    4. yes because it extended my understanding of physical and chemical changes.

  2.   Tayla Says:

    1. What did you enjoy the most about today’s learning?
Today I most enjoyed experimenting with the different chemicals and seeing the reations.

    2. What would you like to find out more about?
I would like to find more about how the rubber duck turned from being purple, to going in the hot water, and then tuning pink, then in cold water, purple again.

    3. What new scientific learning came out of today’s excursion?

    4. Was the excursion a worthwhile experience? Why or why not?

    1. What did you enjoy the most about today’s learning?
I enjoyed making the slime the most.
    2. What would you like to find out more about?
I would like to find out more about how caitlin changed the water to the different colours.
    3. What new scientific learning came out of today’s excursion?
The scientific learning that came out of todays learning was that a chemical change is sometimes reversible
    4. Was the excursion a worthwhile experience? Why or why not?
The excursion was worthwhile because we got more advanced knowledge of physical and chemical change.

    hi,
    1.I enjoyed making the slime.
2.I would like to find more about how the heat pack works.
3.The scientific learning that came out of today’s learning was that a physical change doesn’t necessarily mean it is reversible.
4.The excursion was worthwhile because it extended my learning.

    Hi Ms J,

    1. The thing I enjoyed most was learning that not all chemical changes have to be reversible.

    2. I would like to find out nothing else, I learned a lot.

    3. The new scientific learning that came out of the excursion was on chemistry and physical and chemical change.

    4. Yes it was a worth while eperience because now I really get what is going on to the chemical for it to change.

  6.   e.gabriel Says:

    1. Doing the experiments.
    2. Nothing.
    3. That some physical changes are irreversible and some chemical are reversible.
    4. Yes but No because we only did so little things but it was better than learning in a classroom doing other things than experiments.

  7.   gsnei006 Says:

    1. I enjoyed doing the experiments because I actually got to see if the change was chemical or physical.
    2. I want to find more about why things do what they do. Example why the water looking liquid changed colour when I shake it.
    3. I now realise that when something is a chemical change it doesn’t necessarily need to be an irreversible, it just needs to have a new item.
    4. I think that it was worthwhile because it changed my thinking about chemical changes and what is or what isn’t a chemical change. But I also think that it is fairly short and a bit longer and a few more examples would have been nice.

    Hi Mrs J,
This is my thinking for today,
1.Today on the excursion I enjoyed the most when we went into the “GREEN ROOM” and the lady showed us all different experiments!
2.I would like to find more about when the lady poured regular water into a cup with nothing in the jug and then the water changed colour.
    3. The scientific that came out of today’s learning was that a chemical change can be reversible.
4.Yes I think the experience on the excursion was worthwhile because it was very useful learning from the future.

  9.   saise006 Says:

    1. what I enjoyed the most was how you make slime.
    2. I would like to find out more about how the magnet rattled.
    3. I learnt how to make slime
    4. Yes because they’re telling you how to use chemical and physical reactions.

  10.   adamtad Says:

    1. What did you enjoy the most about today’s learning?
    1. I enjoyed doing the experiments and finding out what happened when you shook the bottle for example.
    2. What would you like to find out more about?
    2. I’d like to find more about what happens to the atoms in a chemical change.
    3. What new scientific learning came out of today’s excursion?
    3. Now I have a deeper understanding about chemical changes and physical changes.
    4. Was the excursion a worthwhile experience? Why or why not?
    4. I think the excursion was worthwhile because I learnt a lot there.

  11.   jrose006 Says:

    Hi Ms J,
I enjoyed most doing the experiments as it was very interesting and it was fun doing experiments.

I would like to find more about how the colours change when you pour the chemical.

I learnt that a physical change cant always be reversed.

Yes. Because we learnt new things and we got to work with chemicals in a science lab.

    Feel Better,
    Love,
    Joelle xx

  12.   kberm006 Says:

1)I liked all the experiments because it was exciting to see the reaction.
2)I would like to find out about why there’s a reaction by exploding.
3)I learned why ther is a reaction.
4)The excursion was definitely worthwhile because I learned a lot and it was fun.

  13.   simmi Says:

    Hi Ms J,
    1. What did you enjoy the most about today’s learning?
Um…… probably making the slime, it is so much fun to make and also to play with (& to throw at people! Ha-ha, it would be a great weapon for your meetings!)
    2. What would you like to find out more about?
Umm….when I am asked if a change is physical or chemical I am not sure so I would like to learn a bit more about that.
    3. What new scientific learning came out of today’s excursion?
That scientists don’t just add acids together and see what happens, they know what they are trying to make.
    4. Was the excursion a worthwhile experience? Why or why not?
Ummmmmm……… yes it was, we learnt alot and we had fun!!.
    Xoxo  <3 Simmi

    1. What did you enjoy the most about today’s learning? I most enjoyed all the stations.
    2. What would you like to find out more about? I would like to find out more about the differences between chemical and physical.
    3. What new scientific learning came out of today’s excursion? I learnt that physical change some times does not change back.

  15.   sbere006 Says:

    1. What did you enjoy the most about today’s learning?
    Making all diffrent experemants
    2. What would you like to find out more about?
    More experements
    3. What new scientific learning came out of today’s excursion?
That not all Chemical reactions are not reversable

  16.   mshee006 Says:

    Hi Ms J,

    1. What did you enjoy the most about today’s learning?
I enjoyed one of the station the station was the one where you make the slime I saw a lot of changes and chemical reaction to the experiment.
    2. What would you like to find out more about?
I would like to find out how they make food dye.
    3. What new scientific learning came out of today’s excursion?
    4. Was the excursion a worthwhile experience? Why or why not?
Yes it was a worthwhile experience because we learnt what chemicals can course explosions and what changes do and it might help you in the future.
